A Look Into The Future: What Will The Interior Design Industry Look Like In 10 Years?

Dining Space Redesign!

When you like something in your house, do you tend to cope with it untouched for a long period of time or do you have a propensity to stroll past it every day while it fades into the background? Sort of like being at your Grandma's home where it seems like the same furniture has been in the very same sport for your whole life? It's familiar; it's comfortable.

I understand that sensation, just my comfy good friend was in the kind of a mirror that hung on the dining-room wall – for about 9 years that's way too comfortable. I've traded out nearly every piece of furnishings under it and around it except for the table itself. Well, it was time to change things up! It worked for a long time until I got tired of not having the ability to take photos without having the reflection of myself or the kitchen. So, out it went. Rather, I hung the framed chalkboard that I managed making a trade with another supplier back in September when I did a classic market. I likewise just recently found the pegged shelves for a take and added some of my ironstone plates. I might include cups to the left side also; it's a symmetry thing with me.

The room is a mix of new, old, handmade, re-purposed and thrift shop and estate sale finds. The chandelier was painted a few years ago, and I'm attempting to choose if I wish to keep it or change it. For this reason the factor I have not rewired it to hang lower. We have high vaulted ceilings, so it's up quite high because I swagged it.

The rug is from Pottery Barn this previous year, and the table we've had for about 10 years or more. The buffet was a light wood colour and was the very first piece of bedroom furnishings I purchased as a single lady many years back. I cut the legs down and painted it when I transferred it to work as the buffet.

I made or reupholstered/painted a couple of items in this area myself, including the curtains, the upholstered bench and pillow, the wreath and the reupholstered antique chair in the corner which you can check out about here.

All the ironstone was either found at estate sales or thrift shops. The last thing on our list for this room other than the light are putting up new baseboards since we pulled all of them out to replace our floors a couple of months back and have not navigated to that project yet. Finally, those lovely spring flowers were a present from the spouse a couple of days ago. He's a sweetheart and said they were "just because" and he desired me to know that he liked me, how sweet is that?
